Utilities need to be able to work with customers to maximize grid performance.
Customers must get benefits along with the utilities. The “smart” or distributed grid decentralizes the decision making. As a result, end-nodes and controllers bust be highly reliable and available. Stranded assets are not acceptable and interoperability is critical. Furthermore, the end-nodes must be locally controlled and coordinated based on local measurements and setpoints. Finally, all this data must be converted into actionable information. Intwine is making this a reality in numerous projects with EPRI and DOE.
